School security guards in Palmdale, CA have been caught on camera assaulting a 16-year-old girl and breaking her arm after she spilled some cake during lunch and left some crumbs on the floor after cleaning it up.

he incident occurred last week at Knight High School in Palmdale and was caught on a cell phone camera by another pupil who was then also assaulted by the security guards.

“On the afternoon of February 13, 1983, minutes after departing a community meeting at Medina’s Meical Clinic, Vernon Wegner, David Broer, Gordon Kahl, Yorie Kahl and myself were ambushed by unidentified assailants dressed in civilian clothing and driving unmarked vehicles. The assailants, four U.S. Marshals and two State Officers, delivering a barrage of assaults and un-published death threats, initiated a confrontation which erupted in gunfire. After being shot at by my attackers, I defended my life against pistol, shotgun and rifle fire that was focused upon me.

This attack against third party bystanders and myself resulted in the death of two marshals, the near death of Yorie Kahl and the less serious wounding of three others. Skewed government generated reports were quickly and steadily publicized through the media, spreading false claims against myself and others.

My friends and I were quickly indicted for a host of charges including first degree murder, assault, harboring, aiding and abetting and conspiracy to assault our attackers. Prior to our trial, my codefendants and I pleaded with U.S. District Judge Paul Benson that we could not get a fair trial anywhere in the state, let alone in his courtroom, due to the extensive biased media coverage and because of Judge Benson’s personal relationship with the deceased marshals. (WASHINGTON) — The government warned consumers on Friday to avoid using toothpaste labeled as made in China because it may contain a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze.

Out of caution, the Food and Drug Administration said, people should throw away toothpaste with that labeling. FDA is concerned that these products may contain diethylene glycol.

The agency is not aware of any reports in the United States of poisoning from toothpaste, but it did find the antifreeze ingredient in a shipment at the U.S. border and at an unidentified retail store.

This Awareness QUILT Project is being created for display to bring attention to the plight of so many innocent children who have been VICTIMIZED BY CORRUPT Family Courts, and or STOLEN by CPS and placed into Foster Care, and some even SOLD into Adoptions by these same state agencies via the family courts. There is NO age limit nor restictions for being included if the child has been "victimized", they are WELCOME to be included in this quilt . It matters not whether the child was or is still in Foster Care, is or is not now home, or was in Foster Care but aged out of the system and was released, is or was or remains in Kinship care, or was SOLD into State arranged adoptions, they "should" be included in this quilt to show that they are NOT isolated cases and that this IS a National Problem . If your child/ren has been a victim of Governmental Corruption, then this QUILT Project INCLUDES your child/ren.

There are NO charges to you for the participation, unless you wish to have your child's photo included in this quilt. Having each child represented with his or her own square, costs you $ 0.00 which equals "ZERO".

SPECIFICATIONS: If you wish to make the squares youself, there should be ONE 5-inch x 5-inch square for EACH child. The fabric may be new or used and taken from old clothes, sheets, baby blankets, or even purchased new at a local store where fabrics are sold. If you wish to cut the squares from something that your child/ren used or wore, that will be fine. THURSDAY APRIL 26, 2007 12:15 AM (PT) This past week there's been a rally in DC. Maybe you heard about it from a talk show host who was there. You certainly didn't see it on major media news. Now had this been a pro-illegal alien rally, it would have been blanketed everywhere. There was a truck rally too. And that got no coverage. But then again, it got no traction since the police effectively stopped people from their constitutional right to protest. What happened, tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.

The organizer of the truck rally is Wanda Piety. You probably heard Frosty Woolridge and I talk about it last week. Wanda joins me tonight to tell you the rest of the story and what's planned for the future. Check out saveamericafund.org.

And while I'm giving you links, don't forget to visit Peter Chowka's site, chowka.com. Peter is the top investigative journalist when it comes to alternative medicine, and as we were discussing on the air, most alternative practioners have sold out. Some for the money-- the government will include them in their programs. Some for the ego-- the government is finally recognizing them. And then there's the sorry truth that many of them are socialists at heart so the thought of government health care resonates in their dark little hearts .

Whatever, the bottom line is the government wants to sweep alternative medicine into the program that will provide cradle to grave care for all. What that means, is that they'll control the whole pot and decide what you will get and when you will get it, if you will get it. Your right to choose your choice of health care will be drastically limited, and the alternative medicine field which once was up in arms is now largely on board. And then there's the infighting among alt. med. folks, which in part is what led to the disinformation that's been circulating. When you read the next entry, don't fret it. It's not imminent after all. Incrementalism works much more effectively.

Real bottom line is the price you will pay will not be measured in dollars. The currency will be your freedom of health care decisions, which is more than anybody should have to bear. Don't believe it? Look what the government is already doing when it comes to children. Parents are not allowed free choice. And look what the results of disallowed Medicare proceedures yield. You think it will be different when everyone is in the system? You might be right. It will be worse.

Texas A&M University failed to report in a timely manner to Federal authorities that a biology student was stricken with the dangerous brucella pathogen in its College Station laboratory for bioweapons agent research on February 9th of 2006. The university made its disclosure this April 10th, 14 months later, and only after insistent prodding by the Sunshine Project, an Austin, Tex.-based arms control watchdog organization.

Under Federal law, such incidents are supposed to be reported within seven days to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.

The student was seriously ill for several months with brucellosis but recovered. The disease is believed to kill between two to three percent of those it infects. The student, whose name and gender has not been disclosed by Texas A&M to Sunshine, apparently came down with the disease, also known as undulant fever, attempting to clean what is called a Madison Aerosol Chamber(MAC) where mice had been exposed to aerosolized brucella particles.

The accident occurred under the supervision of Texas A&M professor David McMurray, inventor of the MAC. According to Sunshine, the case of the stricken student is the third report of a serious illness in connection with the chamber’s use. On one occasion, a leaky aerosol chamber was responsible for three tuberculosis infections in a Seattle lab in 2004.

The MAC is used to infect animals with disease through their lungs. Cultures of the organisms causing tuberculosis, or the bioweapons agents brucella, anthrax, or Q fever, are placed in the MAC’s nebulizer, which mixes them with the air. The resulting aerosol is directed into a metal chamber in which animals placed on racks breathe in the agent.

The Texas A&M work is being funded by the Department of Homeland Security(DHS) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Texas A&M’s professor Thomas Ficht is the Principal Investigator. For MORE see pstarr@logonco.net

The Food and Drug Administration Tuesday suggested allowing the use of the term "pasteurized" to describe irradiated foods as part of its proposed easing of the rules on labeling of irradiated foods.

The proposed new rules would require irradiated food to be labeled only when the radiation treatment caused a material change to the product, such as changes to the taste, texture, smell or shelf life. In order to use the term "pasteurized" for irradiated products, companies would be required to show the FDA that the radiation kills germs as effectively as conventional pasteurization. Companies would also be able to petition the agency to use additional alternate terms other than "irradiated."

Wenonah Hauter, executive director of Food & Water Watch, said, "This move by the FDA would deny consumers clear information about whether they are buying food that has been exposed to high doses of ionizing radiation." The FDA seemed to acknowledge that allowing alternative ways of describing irradiation would confuse consumers in their proposal: "Research indicates that many consumers regard substitute terms for irradiation to be misleading," but were not available for further comment.

The FDA posted the proposed rule changes on its Web site and will accept public comments on the proposal for 90 days. To view and comment on the proposal, go to the Regulations.gov search engine, enter "FDA-2007-0189-0001" in the Keyword or ID field (the other fields can be left as they are) and click Submit. In the two right-hand columns of the search results, you can click on icons to download a pdf of the document, view it online and make comments.

Editors note: Finding the pages for readers to view and comment on this proposal provided some interesting insights. I first went to fda.gov, where I couldn't find any mention of the proposed changes or how to comment on them. The Security and Prosperity Partnership. What a wonderful name. How could you oppose something as benign and noble as that? Do you not want security? Are you against prosperity? What is wrong with you?

I recently wrote a series of articles on the North American Union ID card (Database, Data and Old Idea; New Sales Pitch) and could not help but notice the deceptive and changing language used to promote the idea. Back in 1998, they appeared as “Computerized Smart Cards”. Are those opposed to that not instinctively stupid? They have morphed into new driver’s licenses with a variety of names like “Passport Lite” or “High-Tech Driver’s Licences” or "Laser Visas".

These new cards are nothing like the names would suggest. They are filled with every conceivable piece of information about you that you could imagine. Your fingerprints, retinal scans, DNA, health records, driving history, a picture of your house, internet habits, etc. All the new cards, regardless of their name, contain an RFID tracking chip and are connected to a centralized database for good measure. They are meant to track, trace and catalogue everything you do from birth to death.

Should we keep calling these cards by their government issued names? Or should we call them what they are? At least call them a “National ID Card” or “North American Union ID Card”. Or maybe something more descriptive like the “Track and Trace Card” or “Human Resource Card" or “Human Cattle Card” or something with some historical flair like “Your Papers Please Card”. Would it have made any difference if the Soviets had said “Your Smart Papers Please”? Maybe something more forward thinking like “Rations Card” or “Do You Qualify for a Job Card” or “Have You Paid Your Taxes Card”.

Of course, language is used to deceive and misrepresent in many other areas as well. “Peace Keeping” is one of my favourite ways of saying war and occupation. If you don’t believe “Peace Keeping” means war, here is a nice article by the Canadian Press doing a really bad job of telling you differently. They even have “War Games,” I mean “Peace Keeping Games” or “Role-Playing Exercises”. But doesn’t “Peace Keeping” sound much nicer then “Occupation” or “Invasion” or “Regime Change”?

Sadly, language only seems to get any widespread attention during comedy shows. Jon Stewart recently had a show about Bush's “reasonable proposal.” The proposal was about whether or not Karl Rove and others would be testifying under oath. Bush’s use of the word “reasonable” is very telling, especially at the end when he almost forgot to say it. It is a good example of how politicians and other manipulators choose their words very carefully and repeat them until it becomes someone else's reality.

In a recent article, Charlotte Iserbyt proposed that the alternative media stop calling the police-state we are in fascism. She proposes using the term communism because of the “leftist” association people have with the word, as opposed to fascism which is viewed as being on the far right of the false political spectrum. The differences between applied communism and fascism are minimal, if not trivial, but the use of the word communism is much more powerful when applied to supposedly “right-wing conservatives” like Bush.

When the Europeans were trying to name what eventually became the “European Union,” there was outrage against the idea of naming it the “United States of Europe” because of the “American” connotation it had. Nobody seemed to look east to the former “Soviet Union” for some perspective on what they were getting into with the "European Union."

The alternative media is far behind in its use of language and too readily adopts the use of terminology used by the “politicians” or “professional liars” or “smiling puppets” or whatever you would like to call them. Are more people going to resist the “Security and Prosperity Partnership” or “Deep Integration” or “North American Union” or “The North American Union of Soviet Socialist Republics”? Personally I think the NA-USSR has a nice ring to it, and makes a nice acronym too.

The story behind the pet food recall: bigger than you think
By Christie Keith, Special to SF Gate

The March 16 recall of 91 pet food products manufactured by Menu Foods wasn't big news at first. Early coverage reported only 10-15 cats and dogs dying after eating canned and pouched foods manufactured by Menu. The foods were recalled - among them some of the country's best-known and biggest-selling brands - it was certainly a sad story, and maybe even a bit of a wake-up call about some aspects of pet food manufacturing, that was about it.

At first, that was it for me, too. But I'm a contributing editor for a nationally syndicated pet feature, Universal Press Syndicate's Pet Connection, and all of us there have close ties to the veterinary profession. Two of our contributors are vets themselves, including Dr. Marty Becker, the vet on "Good Morning America." And what we were hearing from veterinarians wasn't matching what we were hearing on the news.

When we started digging into the story, it quickly became clear that the implications of the recall were much larger than they first appeared. Most critically, it turned out that the initially reported tally of dead animals only included the cats and dogs who died in Menu's test lab and not the much larger number of affected pets.

Second, the time-line of the recall raised a number of concerns. Although there have been some media reports that Menu Foods started getting complaints as early as December 2006, FDA records state the company received their first report of a food-related pet death on February 20. One week later, on February 27, Menu started testing the suspect foods. Three days later, on March 3, the first cat in the trial died of acute kidney failure. Three days after that, Menu switched wheat gluten suppliers, and 10 days later, on March 16, recalled the 91 products that contained gluten from their previous source. Nearly one month passed from the date Menu got its first report of a death to the date it issued the recall. During that time, no veterinarians were warned to be on the lookout for unusual numbers of kidney failure in their patients. No pet owners were warned to watch their pets for its symptoms. And thousands and thousands of pet owners kept buying those foods and giving them to their dogs and cats.

At that point, Menu had seen a 35 percent death rate in their test-lab cats, with another 45 percent suffering kidney damage. The overall death rate for animals in Menu's tests was around 20 percent. How many pets, eating those recalled foods, had died, become ill or suffered kidney damage in the time leading up to the recall and in the days since? The answer to that hasn't changed since the day the recall was issued: We don't know.

We at Pet Connection knew the 10-15 deaths being reported by the media did not reflect an accurate count. We wanted to get an idea of the real scope of the problem, so we started a database for people to report their dead or sick pets. On March 21, two days after opening the database, we had over 600 reported cases and more than 200 reported deaths. As of March 31, the number of deaths alone was at 2,797.

There are all kinds of problems with self-reported cases, and while we did correct for a couple of them, our numbers are not considered "confirmed." But USA Today reported on March 25 that data from Banfield, a nationwide chain of over 600 veterinary hospitals, "suggests [the number of cases of kidney failure] is as high as hundreds a week during the three months the food was on the market."

On March 28, "NBC News" featured California veterinarian Paul Pion, who surveyed the 30,000 members of his national Veterinary Information Network and told anchor Tom Costello, "If what veterinarians are suspecting are cases, then it's much larger than anything we've seen before." Costello commented that it amounted to "potentially thousands of sick or dead pets."

The FDA was asked about the numbers at a press conference it held on Friday morning to announce that melamine had been found in the urine and tissues of some affected animals as well as in the foods they tested. Dr. Stephen Sundlof, director of the Center for Veterinary Medicine, told reporters that the FDA couldn't confirm any cases beyond the first few, even though they had received over 8,800 additional reports, because "we have not had the luxury of confirming these reports." They would work on that, he said, after they "make sure all the product is off the shelves." He pointed out that in human medicine, the job of defining what constitutes a confirmed case would fall to the Centers for Disease Control, but there is no CDC for animals.

Instead, pet owners were encouraged to report deaths and illness to the FDA. But when they tried to file reports, there was no place on the agency's Web site to do so and nothing but endless busy signals when people tried to call. Veterinarians didn't fare much better. They were asked to report cases to their state veterinarian's office, but one feline veterinary blog, vetcetera which surveyed all official state veterinarian Web sites, found that only eight had any independent information about the recall, and only 24 even mentioned it at all. Only one state, Vermont, had a request on their site for veterinarians to report pets whose illnesses or deaths they suspect are related to the recall. And as of today, there is no longer a notice that veterinarians should report suspected cases to their state veterinarians on the Web site of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

The lack of any notification system was extremely hard on veterinarians, many of whom first heard about the problem on the news or from their clients. Professional groups such as the Veterinary Information Network were crucial in disseminating information about the recall to their members, but not all vets belong to VIN, and not all vets log on to VIN on the weekend (the Menu press release, like most corporate or government bad news, was issued on a Friday). But however difficult this recall has been for veterinarians, no one has felt its impact more than the owners of affected dogs and cats. While the pet media and bloggers continued to push the story, the most powerful force driving it was the grief of pet owners, many of them fueled by anger because they felt that their pet's death or illness wasn't being counted.

Many of them were also being driven by a feeling of guilt. At Pet Connection we received a flood of stories from owners whose pets became ill with kidney failure, and who took them to the vet. The dogs or cats were hospitalized and treated, often at great expense -- sometimes into the thousands of dollars - and then, when they were finally well enough, sent home. For some, the story ended there. But for others, there was one more horrifying chapter. Because kidney failure causes nausea, it's often hard to get recovering pets to eat. So a lot of these owners got down on their hands and knees and coaxed and begged and eventually hand-fed their pets the very same food that had made them sick. Those animals ended up right back in the hospital and died, because their loving owners didn't know that the food was tainted.

To many pet owners, the pet food recall story is a personal tragedy about the potentially avoidable loss of a beloved dog or cat. Others have a hard time seeing the story as anything more than that - with implications beyond the feelings of those grieving pet owners. Which brings us to the bigger picture, and questions - not about what happened but about the system. How did this problem, now involving almost every large pet food company in the United States, including some of the most trusted - and expensive - brands, get so out of hand? How come pet owners weren't informed more rapidly about the contaminated pet food? Why is it so hard to get accurate numbers of affected animals? Why didn't veterinarians get any notification? Where did the system break down?

The issue may not be that the system broke down, but that there isn't really a system. There is, as the FDA pointed out, no veterinary version of the CDC. This meant the FDA kept confirming a number it had to have known was only the tip of the iceberg. It prevented veterinarians from having the information they needed to treat their patients and advise pet owners. It allowed the media to repeat a misleadingly low number, creating a false sense of security in pet owners - and preventing a lot of people from really grasping the scope and implication of the problem.

And it was why Rosie O'Donnell felt free to comment last week on ‘The View': "Fifteen cats and one dog have died, and it's been all over the news. And you know, since that date, 29 soldiers have died, and we haven't heard much about them. No. I think that we have the wrong focus in the country. That when pets are killed in America from some horrific poisoning accident, 16 of them, it's all over the news and people are like, "The kitty! It's so sad. Twenty-nine sons and daughters killed since that day, it's not newsworthy. I don't understand."

In fact, O'Donnell didn't understand. She didn't understand that the same government she blames for sending America's sons and daughters to die in Iraq is the government that told her only 15 animals had died, and that the story was about a pet "poisoning accident" and not a systemic failure of FEMA-esque proportions.

Think that's going too far? Maybe not. On Sunday night, April 1, Pet Connection got a report from one of its blog readers, Joy Drawdy, who said that she had found an import alert buried on the FDA Web site. That alert, issued on Friday, the same day that the FDA held its last press conference about the recall, identified the Chinese company that is the source of the contaminated gluten - gluten that is now known to be sold not only for use in animal feed, but in human food products, too. (The Chinese company is now denying that they are responsible, although they are investigating it.)

Although the FDA said on Friday it has no reason to think the contaminated gluten found its way into the human food supply, Sundlof told reporters that it couldn't be ruled out. He also assured us that they would notify the public as soon as they had any more information - except, of course, that they did have more information and didn't give it to us, publishing it instead as an obscure import alert, found by chance by a concerned pet owner which was then spread to the larger media.

All of which begs the question: If a system to report and track had been in place for animal illness, would this issue have emerged sooner? Even lacking a reporting and tracking system, if the initial news reports had included, as so many human stories do, suspected or estimated cases from credible sources, it's likely this story would have been taken more seriously and not just by Rosie. It may turn out that our dogs and cats were the canaries in the coal mine of an enormous system failure - one that could have profound impacts on American food manufacturing and safety in the years to come.

Life is a series of problems and solutions, some trivial and some major. One of the trivial problems we in society face is that light bulbs do not last forever. The solution is quite simple: you purchase a new light bulb, remove the old one, and replace it with the new one. Now, this isn't complicated, is it? But now let us enter police, lawyers, and politics into the equation of changing a light bulb.

In my eighteen years of legal research and fourteen cases to the United States Supreme Court, (no I am not an attorney), I came across a case that involved a woman driving through the City of Burbank, California. She was stopped by a police officer because she had a tail light out, unbeknownst to her.

As a result, the officer asked to see her drivers license, and as many women having two purses, she realized that her drivers license was in her other purse.

She was arrested, taken down to the police station where she was fingerprinted, photographed, and endured the humiliation of a strip-search, which also included a cavity search.

Thereafter, she brought suit against the City of Burbank and its police department. As a result of her suit, she established that neither the fact of a light bulb being out, nor the absence of the presence of a drivers license justified probable cause to conduct a strip and cavity search of her body.

While we can all easily figure this out as it is dictated to us by common sense, after many untold hundreds of thousands of expended dollars, lawyers fighting each other on both sides, plus years of court litigation, the bulb was replaced. Problem solved!

[We still do not know whether the City of Burbank was looking inside the woman for a light bulb, or a drivers license. And what did the City Council of Burbank learn from this experience? They learned that they are going to have to raise taxes in case there are future lawsuits of this nature.]

Now you may very well be thinking that this is just an isolated incident, and you are thankful that it is not the norm. Well, I am here to tell you that these types of litigation are all too common.

Take, for instance, the recent experience of Henry Nicolle of Ventura, California just last month, March, 2007. Quoting excerpts from Mr. Nicolle's testimony, he states:

"I was going home at about 10:45 in the evening, an early evening for me. I noted a car behind me for the last few blocks before my house, but it appeared to be a compact, not a full size, and when the red and blue lights came on, I was a little surprised. I finished my turn, went about a quarter block and turned into a small business office complex and parked.

"The young female officer approached my rear left side and said she had stopped me for the unlighted license plate. I said, 'Oh golly, I think I have a replacement, let me get in the glove box and I'll fix it right now and we can all go home, happy.' She said, 'No, I don't care about that, let me see your drivers license and registration.' "

His response was limited to questioning the officer as to whether he had committed a crime and was being placed under arrest. Continuing quote: "Her backup arrived and her sergeant arrived and took over the interrogation. We then established...that I had been stopped for a traffic infraction, that I could not answer the license question, that I was not free to go, that I was detained and arrested, there was no warrant and...that I had committed a crime. ...I then closed the conversation by the demand that I need to speak with my counsel and had nothing else to say until I had the advice of counsel."

Henry says that when he stated that he needed counsel prior to answering their questions, they handcuffed him and placed him into the police car. Then, he said, a police officer took each side of the car, searching it thoroughly with three additional officers searching the trunk for approximately fifteen minutes. They sifted through oil containers, tools, donated clothing for charity, and his

Congressional campaign materials (he was a congressional candidate). Then, prior to completing the search, he was transported to jail, and thereafter in his absence, the car impounded. Within an hour of impounding, the owner of the car (Mr. Nicolle was not the owner), was forced to pay $455 to obtain his car following the one-hour impound.

"So, then I entered the booking section. 'Stand here, look there, take off your shoes, ... answer these questions and sign this.' Sorry, I cannot do either of those without the advice of counsel." ... They replied that if I did not talk and sign I would never see counsel nor would I see a magistrate. ...

"They had me strip naked and locked me in the 'medical observation cell.' This is a standard 8 or 12' X about 15' cell, but with nothing to disturb the pleasant pea green 1/4-inch-thick urethane industrial, self-skinning foam which blankets every surface except the 10 X 18 inch barred hole in the floor which serves as both a universal toilet and a drain for the hose-down cleanup. Believe me, the effect of the foam on the bare flesh and bone is little different that ordinary concrete or wood.

"Over the following 8 or 9 hours, I shivered and dozed on the cold, hard floor while a variable parade of the curious visited my cell window. I heard the arresting officer and another female, and probably a dozen different male voices with conversations along these lines: Casually - 'Who's the guy in the penalty box?' 'Oh that's Henry Nicolle, one of those Liberty People.' 'Oh? Why did we arrest him?' 'Just a license plate light infraction.' (incredulously) 'An infraction? Why do you have him in there?' 'He won't answer our receiving questions and he won't sign the inventory without advice of counsel and he wants to see the on-call magistrate.' 'Oh. Well, those guys are all nuts anyway.'

"...Our conversations reject the concept that the green rubber room, or Penalty Box, had anything to do with psychiatric or medical observation. Its function and deliberate use are a form of torture, and not self-torture. You have no choices.

'Get dressed, I'm going to move you to another cell.' I was moved to the next sequential cell which had two phones, a bench and a standard prison toilet. ...
Eventually I was released about 1 AM the following morning. (Wednesday). ...
Henry Nicolle."

Let us not forget, the problem was simply a broken bulb over the license plate which the owner was able to replace after paying $455 to get his car out of impound.

It is astounding how rapidly and thoroughly we are being put under total tyranny. The FDA, USDA and the California Almond Board has developed a marketing order which mandates that all almonds must be pasteurized. This came about because " two outbreaks of salmonella, associated with conventional farms several years ago". Industry has now overreacted in grand fashion and they do not even know it yet.

No outbreaks have been associated with raw organic almonds to date that we are aware of.

This has everything to do with lack of biodiversity and the sterile farming methods used on conventional farms. On these farms few weeds or grasses grow on the floors and little sunlight reaches the floors. To the contrary, Organic farms support and encourage biodiversity with green floors in the orchards and this discourages pathogen growth.
Unfortunately, organic almonds are shelled and bagged on the same production facilities as conventional and are being subjected to the same rules.

There is an even bigger issue. The FDA has decided not to tell the consumer the truth about this processing step. The almonds you will buy in Wholefoods this fall may still say "raw almonds but they will have been subjected to high heat and a five log kill step...that they are calling Pasteurization". This lie is being permitted by the marketing order!!

The FDA in association with the USDA and the Almond Board is in fact denying you the information required to make informed choices when you buy food. You will not be able to identify a pasteurized almond from a truly raw whole, enzyme rich, unprocessed almond.

The almond board claims that the almonds will still sprout ( still some life in them ) and that the flavor does not change. But yet no research has been performed to see what kind of opportunistic bacteria will take over when the almond has been sterilized. It is not a whole natural food anymore. It will now be a processed food. Millions of dollars are being invested to install expensive pasteurization machines in all Almond plants in order to follow this "sterile foods are better foods edict".

Demand that your source of organic raw almonds be exempted from this short sighted food safety debacle.

Demand that a label be permitted that identifies "truly raw almonds" and if required even put a warning label on them. Also demand that pasteurized almonds be identified as well. It seems that every time a government warning is applied to a food, that in itself becomes a certification that that is the food you should eat.

It is very clear that the FDA does not understand the origins of the massive immune depression epidemic in America. A sterilized diet makes for a weakened immune system. FDA website http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/795_antibio.html explains antibiotic resistance quite well, but ignorantly and blindly never mentions pro-biotics which prevent disease and infections. Whole unprocessed living foods are in this category of foods.

Weakened immune systems are associated directly with cancer, osteoporosis, asthma, allergies, Crohns, IBS, Colitis, GERD, chronic disease ,infections, antibiotic use and resistance and human death, Ulcers and the list goes on and on.

Raw almonds are a wonder food just as they are. Let consumers make the informed choice and be responsible for the consequences.

The almond farmers do not even know what they have been led into by the FDA. This consumer choice option will surely increase almond sales.

Denial of a choice will be a marketing disaster.

Freedom is lost gradually... bit by bit and bite by bite... with the great assistance of passive unconscious in activism and sheepish.

You are conscious and aware of this path. Lets fight today and send a message. We must have unprocessed food choices.

These are the people to contact....please fax, call or email them and demand:
1. A true almond label that states clearly that " almonds have been pasteurized"
2. A second consumer choice label that warns that the "almonds are raw and unprocessed".
3. That you will not tolerate the pasteurization of your almonds and having them still labeled as a "raw almond". That this is a fraud and a lie.
4. Tell them that the proposed marketing order denies consumers the freedom to identify and choose whole unprocessed foods.
