POLICE STATE

"Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."
-- Ayn Rand ('Atlas Shrugged' 1957)

Tom,

Re: PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES MICHAEL BADNARIK, DAVID COBB*ARRESTED*

It's so hard to believe this is happening in America. Is this Bush's definition of Democracy? This is tyranny on steroids. When one man's freedom of speech is threatened, everyone's freedom of speech is jeopardized. I may or may not agree with either of these candidates, but would defend to the death, their right to free speech. Exactly what are the other 2 parties afraid of? This is exactly what happened in Nazi Germany to those who spoke out, followed by Newspaper editors marched off to the Gulags. Are we revisiting yesteryear?

I hope CNN Crossfire puts this on TV to and interviews 3rd. party candidates, who received no equal time, have no civil rights or freedom to speech while our boys are dying for freedom in Iraq. They won't even recogize America if and when they return.

Where are those ACLU lawyers when you need them? Where is USAG John Ashcroft to enforce the Constitution and the existing laws governing freedom of speech? We don't need the USAPA, we need our Constitutional rights. I hope they sue the city of St. Louis. "The claim and exercise of a constitutional right cannot be converted into a crime." Miller v. US, 230 F 486, 489.

"Your Rights are your security. He who demands Your Rights aims to take your security." -- Butch

Silence is sedition -- Silence is consent. Those who oppose dissent are living in the wrong country -- It's as American as apple pie! "There are men - now in power in this country - who do not respect dissent, who cannot cope with turmoil, and who believe that the people of America are ready to support repression as long as it is done with a quiet voice and a business suit." -- Former New York Mayor John V. Lindsay

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES MICHAEL BADNARIK, DAVID COBB*ARRESTED*

"Mommy, when I grow up...I want to be "president."

The first report from St. Louis is in - and presidential candidates Michael Badnarik (Libertarian) and David Cobb (Green Party) were just arrested. Badnarik was carrying an Order to Show Cause, which he intended to serve the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). Earlier today, Libertarians attempted to serve these same papers at the Washington, D.C. headquarters of the CPD - but were stopped from approaching the CPD office by security guards.

Fred Collins reported to me from the ground that Badnarik and Cobb are in great physical condition and great spirit. As soon as more details are available, they will be posted here immediately.
